- 5 Day Flying Tanzania Safari From Arusha
Introduction
Imagine watching the Serengeti unfold beneath you — a golden canvas of acacia-dotted savannah stretching to every horizon — before landing on a bush airstrip and stepping straight into the wild. This five-day flying safari trades long dusty drives for short scenic flights, placing you deep inside Tanzania’s greatest national park within hours of leaving Arusha.
The Serengeti needs no introduction. UNESCO World Heritage Site, stage of the Great Wildebeest Migration, and home to one of Africa’s densest concentrations of lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo, it is simply one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. Over four nights you will wake to the sounds of the bush, embark on morning and afternoon game drives with expert guides, and witness wildlife encounters that few humans ever forget.
Whether the savannah is alive with the thundering columns of the annual migration or the open plains are patrolled by resident prides of lion, the Serengeti consistently delivers the kind of Africa that inspires lifetimes of return journeys.
Day 1 — Arusha to Serengeti (Seronera)
Your safari begins at Arusha Airport, where you board your scheduled charter flight over the Great Rift Valley and the Serengeti plains. On landing at Seronera Airstrip your guide and vehicle will be waiting. After a welcome lunch at camp, the afternoon opens with your first game drive through the Seronera Valley — famous for year-round leopard and lion sightings. Return to camp for a candlelit dinner under a sky full of stars.
Day 2 — Full Day, Central Serengeti
Rise before dawn for an early morning game drive — the golden hour when predators are most active. Big cats, elephant herds, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest are all regulars here. Return to camp for a bush breakfast, then rest through the midday heat. The afternoon drive takes you deeper into the plains, finishing with a sundowner stop on the open grassland as the horizon turns amber.
Day 3 — Northern Serengeti (Kogatende / Mara River)
A morning drive/flight repositions you to the wild northern reaches of the Serengeti. Between July and October, colossal herds of wildebeest and zebra funnel toward the crocodile-filled Mara River crossings. Even outside migration months, the north is remote, undisturbed, and teeming with elephant, lion, and cheetah. Overnight at a tented camp on the Mara riverbank.
Day 4 — Full Day, Northern Serengeti
Another full day in the north. Your guide will follow the latest wildlife intel — tracking lion prides, positioning for river crossings, or exploring kopje-studded terrain where cheetah and hyena shelter. An optional hot-air balloon safari at dawn (additional cost) offers an unforgettable bird’s-eye view. In the afternoon, a guided bush walk with an armed ranger brings the smaller details of the wild to life.
Day 5 — Serengeti to Arusha, Departure
After a final sunrise game drive, return to camp for brunch and packing. Your charter flight departs the bush airstrip midmorning, carrying you back over the plains one last time. On arrival in Arusha, our team assists with onward connections — whether you are continuing to Zanzibar for a beach extension or heading home.
